Match Preview: West Allotment Celtic vs Whitley Bay (Emirates FA Cup Preliminary Round)

Despite a poor start to the league campaign, West Allotment Celtic will be looking to get back on the right track on Friday evening as we host Whitley Bay in a huge FA Cup Preliminary Round game.

In the Extra Preliminary Round of the Emirates FA Cup, Allotment beat Billingham Town in a game that had absolutely everything. Five goals, two red cards and a missed penalty highlighted just how entertaining the early rounds of the FA Cup can be and Friday night promises to be no different.

Our opponents

Whitley Bay faced a tough test in the previous round as they were drawn up against Northern Counties Eastern League Division One side, North Ferriby F.C. The game finished 1-1 after 90 minutes therefore the tie went to a replay at North Ferriby a few days later. On this occasion, Whitley Bay ran out as 2-5 winners with their goals coming from Henry Dorward, Jason Chanayire, Adam Shanks (2) and Richard Coulson.

The Bay have also had a solid start to their league campaign as well as they currently sit in 7th position after their first four games. They have two wins which includes an impressive win against Newcastle Benfield last Saturday.

Team News

A slight concern for West Allotment as there are quite a few names that will be missing for Friday night's game.

Gilberto Chapim remains unavailable as he has one more game left on his suspension following a red card at Billingham Town in the previous round.

Other players who are currently unavailable include Shane Jones, Jake Forster, Mikel Thompson and Michael Trodd.

What we're saying

Manager Jay Bates has discussed the upcoming game and has reiterated that he wants the players to go out there and enjoy themselves.

"We've got quite a few lads who are missing on Friday for various reasons but that's no excuse for us. I've told the lads that they've just got to go out there and enjoy themselves. They shouldn't have any pressure on their shoulders.

"It would be a nice feeling and a good morale booster if we can get a positive result in front of what will be a big crowd. We can't wait for it."
