West Allotment Celtic will be looking for their first 3 points of the season this Saturday as they take on high-flying Sunderland Ryhope C.W.
It has been nearly three weeks since Allotment's last league game after a break for FA Cup and FA Vase action. After a successful penalty shootout win last weekend against Steeton, Allotment will be hoping to use that momentum and pick up a pivotal win against Ryhope C.W. on Saturday.
The Opposition
Sunderland Ryhope C.W. currently sit in third position in the Ebac Northern League Division One. Despite their very respectable league position, they are without a win since the end of August after a 0-2 win away at Northallerton.
Since then, they have suffered home defeats against table-toppers Consett and Newton Aycliffe as well as drawing games away at Bishop Auckland and Seaham Red Star.
The man to watch out for will be James Ellis who is currently the joint-third top scorer in the league this season with 8 goals.
Head-2-head
This weekend's meeting will be the first meeting between the two sides in the top tier of the Northern League - all previous meetings coming in Division Two.
The first encounter came nine years ago in 2012 which saw Ryhope run out as convincing 7-1 winners. The sides then met a month later which finished 2-2.
The next two meetings (and last two meetings) came in 2016. Ryhope again ran out as comfortable 3-6 winners then Allotment recorded a 0-1 win in the next and final meeting between the two clubs.
